The Effect of Pancuronium Bromide as a Muscle Relaxant Alone or Combination with Diazepam in Sheep

The effect of pancuronium bromide (0.025 mg/kg. B.W.) alone or combined with diazepam (1mg/Kg. I.V) were evaluated in six adult ewes. Pancuronium bromide alone exhibited a muscle relaxants effect, but without analgesia. All baseline measurements were taken before the administration the anesthetic agent and were repeated at 5,10,15,20 and 25 min. intervals after induction an aesthesia alone or c...

The effect of colymycin M, gentamycin and kanamycin on depression of neuromuscular transmission induced by pancuronium bromide.

THE INTERACTION Of antibiotics and neuromuscular blocking agents has been well documented. Neomycin, a.-~ streptomycin, 3 kanamycin, 3 gentamicin, 4'~ bacitraein, G polymyxin B ~ and colymicin ~ have been shown to potentiate the neuromuscular blockade of d-tubocurarine. The combined action of the muscle relaxant and the antibiotic is often resistant to reversal by both calcium '2,~3,~4 and neos...

Myocardial stimulation by pancuronium bromide.

The effect of pancuronium bromide on the canine myocardium was studied by observing several indices of myocardial contractility during i.v. and intracoronary infusion of the drug in an anaesthetized, open-chested dog preparation. Pancuronium produced tachycardia when given for 2 min by i.v. and intracoronary infusion with the heart intact. Following denervation and pacing of the heart the intra...

Comparative potency of pipecuronium bromide and pancuronium bromide.

Cumulative dose-response curves were constructed to determine the comparative potency of pipecuronium and pancuronium. From these, the ED50 and ED95 values were calculated. These were 24.96 micrograms kg-1 and 44.96 micrograms kg-1, respectively, for pipecuronium and 30.42 micrograms kg-1 and 61.12 micrograms kg-1, respectively, for pancuronium.

Central muscle relaxant effects of diazepam.

Motor depressant effects of diazepam were studied in the intact, decerebrate and high spinal cat. Diazepam (0.125516 mg/kg, i.v.) produced a depression of both the patellar and linguomandibular reflexes in the intact cat. In the high spinal (Cl) cat only the linguomandibular reflex was depressed. Facilitation and inhibition of the patellar reflex elicited in both intact and high spinal (Cl) cat...
